Fairport's Future Takes Shape with New STEAM Wing
Fairport High School students and staff celebrated the opening of the school's new STEAM wing Wednesday evening as part of the ongoing Fairport for the Future Capital Improvement Project. The new space will provide students with expanded opportunities to explore science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics through hands-on, experiential learning.
Students Build a Remote-Controlled T-Shirt Cannon from Scratch
Three Fairport students marked the opening of the new STEAM wing by unveiling an invention of their own: a pirate ship-themed, remote-controlled T-shirt cannon.
Designed and built by the students, the cannon made its debut during Wednesday evening's celebration and will make its second public appearance at Fairport's Homecoming football game.
A Local Ice Cream Favorite Joins the Celebration
The ceremony was made even sweeter with a visit from a local ice cream truck. The Ice Cream Factory, owned by local resident Linda, served nearly 400 guests throughout the evening.
Her signature "Red Raider Rumble" flavor was a particular hit, giving students, staff, families, and community members another reason to celebrate the opening of this exciting new addition to Fairport High School.
